6 Low Maintenance Curb Appeal Ideas
Curb appeal is a real thing!
I don't know about you, but as thrilled as we are to see spring arrive, the work seems a little endless to clean it up from the long winter!
Curb appeal means the impression of the attractiveness of an exterior property and its surroundings when viewed from the street. It is one of the most important things you can do, whether your house is for sale or not. It is the first impression of your property before anyone even steps inside.
The first thing anyone notices when they are driving up to your home is the exterior, so make sure it's worth looking at! Curb appeal is known as the primary marketing tool for showing your home to others. This doesn't mean everything has to be over the top to "WOW" the neighbours, but it does mean it shouldn't turn people off in its lasting first impression of how you care for your home.
After raking up the leaves, cutting the grass and turning the soil in the gardens, how do you keep it looking sharp and presentable without daily toil and work? ⠀⠀⠀
We are all about making the curb appeal as simple, minimalistic and maintenance-free as possible!
Time is precious, and life is busy.
Here are our six tips on simply but creatively achieving excellent curb appeal!
Tend the grass! There is nothing like a manicured lawn. Grass seed is inexpensive, and as long as you can turn on a sprinkler regularly after spreading, it can quickly fill in dead areas to consistently showcase a groomed lawn.
Freshen up the front door! Nothing is more attractive than a new front mat and Fresh floral pots or boxes. You can plant these yourself or purchase store-bought creations. The main thing is understanding the choices that suit the sun or shade characteristics of your space. Pots are versatile and often pre-prepared for you beautifully, or you can compile on your own. They can be moved around to different parts of the yard based on what they need to thrive.
Invest in mulch, and layer it as deeply as you can! Mulch not only looks great and finishes off a garden, but it breaks down and prevents weeds. We mulch everything for a total makeover to my lawn's appearance and adds attractive colour and texture to my yard. It's inexpensive, and you don't have to mow or water it, but the weed prevention is worth its weight in low-yard maintenance gold!
Fill your gardens with perennials, grasses or ground covers that require little watering, are hardy and can thrive anywhere! The beautiful thing about opting for perennials is that you only buy them once, and they come back every year, filling a garden space fully and quickly.
Consider artificial grass or plants. Don't be afraid to consider using artificial options for those "impossible to grow anything well" areas. Most people won't even notice, and you will love the zero maintenance on your curb appeal.
Pretty it up with lighting! There is so much you can do with lights to add some "glowing" curb appeal to your front or backyard decor. LED lights are a popular and cost-effective option that will save you money in the long run. Solar pathway lights, strings of garden lights, or spotlights all keep your home looking inviting, charming and warm.
We love getting outdoors and enjoying our yards, but nobody wants to spend all their time toiling to keep up their curb appeal! Simple steps can keep your first impressions strong and your enjoyment of your efforts optimized!
